How to Create a Chess Game

  1. Name your room — give it a fun name like "Friday Night Chess" or "Blitz Battle".
  2. Enter your name — your opponent will see this during the game.
  3. Choose time control — pick from 1-minute bullet to 30-minute classical. Each player gets the same amount of time on their clock.
  4. Share the Room ID — after creating, copy the 6-character code and send it to your friend. They'll enter it on the Join Game page.

Time Controls Explained

Chess Arena offers six time controls to suit every playing style. Bullet (1 min) is for fast reflexes, Blitz (3–5 min) for quick games, Rapid (10–15 min) for thoughtful play, and Classical (30 min) for deep analysis. Learn more about time controls in chess ↗.
